During Holy Week break we made a quick trip to Brest, a city in the Finistère (end of the earth) département of Brittany in the western extremity of France. Brest was mainly reconstructed after the WWII when it suffered major damages, but you can still find some nice castles and antique houses, especially around the city in places like La Conquet. Also the nature that surrounds the city is simply breathtaking. When in Brest, visiting Le Crozon, is mandatory… if you’re lucky and there’s sun (they say there’s sun… sometimes), you’re in for a treat!
This photo, taken while having breakfast at the lovely Hotel Abalys, is the proof that one day, at some point in the morning, there was plenty of sun shinning in Brest!
And then the sun was gone… for long!
The payssage was absolutely beautiful nonetheless!
And the weather was perfect to have a delicious and very maritime lunch! This was à la Maison Océan.
This is the view from the Pointe de Pen-Hir. Cannot explain how windy it was!
Right next to the Pointe de Pen-Hir there’s the Musée Mémorial Bataille Atlantique. You can walk around all the bunkers from WWII and this is the view of the Celtic Sea and the Pointe du Toulinguet.
Lovely bunting in Crozon-Morgat adding a bit of colour to a very temperamental day… at least weather-wise. I promise there was sun, although it was brief enough for me not to be able to capture it in a photo 😉
An amazing crêpe aux pommes flambées at the Boulevard de la Plage in Crozon-Morgat. That and a couple of pichets of cidre brut and you will be happy for days.
