The name Renata comes from Italian and it means “reborn” But everybody knows me as Rena. I’m an illustrator, designer and world explorer based near Barcelona, between the city and the mountains. During childhood, I was surrounded by colours and illustrated books and I’ve realised over the years that illustration is what it gives meaning to my life, filling the world with color and beautiful things and giving people’s lives something through my work.
In 2015 I decided to start my own adventure, focused on the strength of color and detail and inspired by nature, the slow life and my passion for travelling and discovering new cultures and places. All of these elements became part of my creative work and my visual language. I enjoy every step of it and work in a way where every part of the creation is equally as important, providing an inner part of me and my essence in everything I do.
For me, work and personal life comes together in a single way of life where color, illustration, nature and my passion for travelling coexist in perfect harmony.
Where do you live? I live near Barcelona, between the city and the mountains, in a beatiful house with a big terrace, my boyfriend a lots of nature and travelling books!
Where do you come from? I was born in a city near Barcelona but I really feel that I come from everywhere, from the mountains, the sea, the rivers, the north lands… The whole world is my homeland and everywhere I go I feel like I’m home.
Where do you (day)dream to go next? Without any kind of doubt, Greenland, Lappland and Alaska. I really love the north, places where reigns the cold and ice. For me, they have a kind of magic, peace, silence that are unique in the world!
What do you like most about traveling? The way a place makes you change inside and all the things you learn, like a new cooking recipe, a new word, new ways to make something. For me all of this makes your life greatest and special, it makes you fell you are here for a reason and that you have a necessity to transmit all of this to the whole world!
A ritual or a thing that you cannot miss when you travel? I always need to travel with my notebook. I need to write everything I see, everything I taste and I learn and I love to make lists about everything I need to take with me and the 10 most amazing things or experiences I see during my trip.
