Joanie lives in San Francisco and works in sales for a winery based in Santa Barbara. In her spare time she is a freelance printmaker, specializing in linocut block prints. Family trips throughout Europe growing up shaped her creative eye and regional culinary appreciation. Her favorite travel memories revolve around the table over a long meal while reflecting and talking about the day’s highlights and plans for the next day’s adventures. While in college, she studied drawing and painting in Rome, taking in the best parts of the city through her sketchbook and the off the beaten path restaurants where menus were never printed in English, if they were printed at all.
Where do you live? San Francisco.
Where do you come from? Los Angeles.
Where do you (day)dream to go next? Sicily, Italy.
What do you like most about traveling? Stumbling upon authentic shops and restaurants that you won’t find in the typical guidebook. The less ‘touristy’ the activity, the better.
A ritual or a thing that you cannot miss when you travel? Bringing home small souvenirs that will forever remind me of the trip.
